A passing of one of our members

Sad news just came to me via SMS of the passing of Phil Sheehan - aka "ClancyLane" on IIS - who died on Saturday in his home at Blackbutt, QLD.

I knew Phil well, and he was a no BS, no nonsense man. We bought and traded a lot between each other.

I have no further details except to say there will be a wake in his honour on Sunday 7th May (this Sunday) at Geebung RSL from 1330 to 1630.

May the old larrikin rest in peace. Cheers to you Phil!

That is very sad news indeed. Had many chats with Phil and did a bit of gear trading with him as well. A gentle man with a sense of humour. Rest well Phil..

I was only chatting with Phil last week and was planning a get together with him at the end of this month. He told me about some haggling he was doing with Lewis over an SBIG camera.

Phil was a Vietnam vet. Rest in peace Phil ...

This is sad news indeed. Phil used to be a regular at Leyburn until he moved to Blackbutt. Heck of a nice guy.

Ah, that's sad. I met Phil only once when buying a pier off him. Seemed like a very nice guy. Condolences to his family and friends.

Very very sad news. Really enjoyed a catch up with Phil at Astrofest every year. He seemed so proud and happy of his new set up at Blackbutt.

Leyburn observatory salutes you Phil.

Phil used to drop in for a cuppa and chat whenever he came to town to do his washing and shopping. (while he was at his Hazeldean property)
So very sad.

Astrofest will feel a bit empty this year. You could always rely on Phil to have a joke or a great story.

I only learned of this today and had I known in time I would have attended his wake. Phil was one of the regulars at Astrofest I always looked out for as soon as I arrived. It is very sad to think he won't be there this year or any year from now on. He certainly was a character. Good to see him remembered so fondly.

Today I came across this photo of Phil Sheenan at the 2016 Astrofest. He loved attending and I'll be a little sad this year that isn't able to be there to enjoy it with the rest of us. RIP Phil.
