numbers down?????

We seem to be getting fewer and less varied images
being posted in the the Beginners' Photography section,
there often being several days between posts, such as
now for instance, three days since the last post.

Actually, it's site-wide. Topics aren't getting answered, nothing is selling... real downturn it seems, though I don't check the statistics to validate that.

Perhaps many are going into hibernation.

It's the federal budget that has caused it. People not willing to spend. Spend time online that is. Oh dear, that's my attempt at humour on this one.

I don't frequent as much. It's not because I don't want to, it's that I forget. I then binge read the topics and discussion points. Some are a little in depth for me and I don't bother with those. I look at the pics, read the helpful hints and browse the "for sale" on the occasion I might find something that I could buy.

Plus the sky hasn't been great lately (not here in Tas anyway) so nothing to post from me.

With regards to images being posted, the plethora of choices these days to post images on non astro sites (FB, instagram etc) has an effect. I have found I enjoy popping my admittedly average images on FB a bit because my family and friends see them, while here on IIS it is more the aficionados that gather.
Being time poor, sometimes you just run out of time to do everything!!

I usually only post from work and when i'm sick a lot...

I dont bother with posting pics, just to astrobin for myself, dont give a toss about opinions on them, i know they suck and how to improve them but given my situation they are all I can achieve.

I have spare time at work while PC's do updates so tend to browse a bit but my home time is busy with some maintenance and the EBike business so that takes more of my attention.
Also still saving for the ASI 1600 mc cooled so not spending, it's hard to restrain myself sometimes..

I have definitely noticed that its been very cloudy. This is my first summer with a imaging scope, so I just assumed that it was because there is alot more moisture in the air. Not sure if every summer is like that

I have noticed the skys are already alot clearer.

Posting images here can be a pretty daunting thing for the Beginners. I think they come in batches, where one new guy inspires another to post his/hers as well, etc. What defines when one is no longer a Beginner?

one stops being a beginnner when people start to steal their photos and you have to watermark it

Yep Tony, that has happened before, however to a new person posting his/her images can be very daunting in regard to the pros here that post magazine quality images.

However i was once a novice and i feel some of my images are Ok, one just has to keep at it I guess
