Ngc 1808

Hi
A beautiful Seyfert galaxy with an intense core (accretion disk radiation) some streamers? and some starburst in the disk. Luminance was selected for best possible resolution.

Thanks for looking. regards Ray

Hi Ray,
that's fantastic.
You'd have to be happy with that?

cheers

Very nice result Ray. Not one I think I’ve seen before but the fainter outer spiral is pretty awesome

This has always been one of my favourite galaxies Ray and as usual you've done a great job on it. I would think about winding back the saturation slightly though.

Cheers

Hi Colin. First time I have looked at it as well - quite an interesting object.

Thanks Steve, Totally agree on saturation - pushed it one notch higher than it should be to bring out the structure around the core and the starburst regions - it was very sensitive to colour. I have a version with more "natural" saturation, but it misses out on some significant detail (crop attached). Cheers Ray

Great work Ray. I don't think the saturation is too high.... heh you should see my rendition from about a year ago, makes yours look positively subtle ;-)

Gee what a great shot Ray, a fabulous galaxy image and apart from the CHART32 dudes out'a this world league version (yours has better colour ), probably just about the best I have seen of this one. I had great fun searching around for all the crazy shaped background galaxies...very cool mate ...hmmm everyone bangs on about needing long focal length for galaxies, bang bang bang....so I love it when you post your work ...funny, as incredible as your results are, still doesn't seem to change some of the brainwashed minds out there though

Mike

thanks Mike. CHART32 sets the bar very high eh? the background stuff is quite interesting especially the pair in the lower left corner - wish they were closer. regards Ray

A lovely field to wander around in Ray. Lots of nice detail in the galaxy and plenty of others in the surrounding field.
