Yahoooo. Aurora finally!!! Plus clunky animation.

Just happened to check a notification on a possible Aurora.

And for the first time ever in the 18 years we've been living at Penwortham , I've not only seen one but managed to image it.

It was fascinating to see it dance across the horizon.

The image is from 11.00pm 15-08-2015.

I've added an animation, it's not good.
But does show the curtain moving.
The camera was moved and lost a little focus due to my excitement.

Every time I looked it was too cloudy
Seems to happen every time an aurora happens

Hi, Good luck. This aurora might have been what I captured on my camera last night. I was taking pics at 10.30 pm towards the Crux/Carina region (low in S/SE) and recorded a prominent glow in the sky (no city near me - I'm in central Vic). See my pics under Southern stars 15 Aug. Thanks, John W.

Well done Justin! Exciting, isn't it? i haven't had a capture for a year because of the way the clouds time themselves to auroras here in NW Tas :-)

Hi John,

Had a look at your pics and they look similar to mine when I first went out. I have Adelaide light pollution to the south so it was a pleasant surprise to see the aurora coming out of the glow.

Yep I was chuffed to see and image the aurora.
Always envious of your southern position when it comes to aurora.
