The easiest way to record the proms is either to push up the gain setting until they are visible and/ or increase the exposure until they show.
Stacking in AS3! or ImPPG will bring them out.
A bit of "majic" with PSP, separate the proms and add them to a normal surface exposure.
I'm a beginner at this too. To make it obvious, I acquired two separate images by tuning the etalon to see either disk detail or prominances. For prominances you will need to up the gain or frame time. I processed the prominances and disk detail separately (different acquisitions). Then I used the photoshop layers function and pasted the disk detail as a layer on top of the prominance image. There's sure to be a better way than this.
I steered clear of PS for ages but solar imaging has forced me to start to learn it; it comes with my copy of lightroom.
The easiest way to deal with the huge difference in dynamic range between prominences and surface details is to combine two separate captures as already mentioned. It is possible to get both in a single image but you would need to be operating at 12/14 bit or higher dynamic range and you would need to isolate your processing to disk or non disk sections as required.
