My first time 'published'

A country paper contacted me to write up a story about one of my images.

I took the photo in the backyard of my in-laws place, up in Numurkah, Victoria. They liked the image and asked if I could send a copy to the printer, so they could get a print done to hang on their wall.

The printing facility is owned by the newspaper and the editor spotted the picture and got in contact with me via my in-laws.

It may only be the local country rag, but it's pretty cool thinking thousands of people are going to see my image this week

Nice is your in-laws place outside Numurkah or in the town?

It's in town. But they get some decent dark skies as they only have two neighbours (paddock at the rear of them) and no real stray light.

Very nice it's great to have things in print.

I'm a member of the Mornington Peninsula Astronomical Society (MPAS) and have had three of my images over 3 months featured in the Mornington Peninsula Magazine via the MPAS news section. IT's always great to see your work appreciated. Well done!

Dark Numurkah skies, my childhood memories of laying on the front lawn watching the stars come out one-by-one, then later counting satellites. The very foundation of my lifelong interest in astronomy.
