Light Boxes

I have just recently completed building myself a couple of light boxes and I am very pleased with the results. If anyone is interested in me building one for them, PM me and I can discuss price etc, one thing is for sure, they are going to be at least a third of the price of imported ones, and IMHO work just as well. The two attached images will give you some sort of idea of my construction. My method of construction allowes the light box to fit over the front of the telescope/dew shield, much like a cover so one does not need to balance it on the scope.
I use a 12v lighter type connector for the power, and each LED is rated at between 6000mcd and 12000mcd depending on the size of the box required.
If interested please feel free to ask any questions.

Wow, how long is a piece of string. They are used for creating "flats" for asto photography in my case. They remove dust motes and vignetting. Obviously all this enhances the final image. There is a lot of information out there on what they do, best to do a search for a much more detailed description of their use.

I have a light box but I use it only to photograph products which I sell online. I'm yet to venture into astrophotography. It all sounds so daunting, but so did General Relativaty to begin with.

Thanks again, I may need one in the future and I'll know where to come get it

I got mine in the mail yesterday, the craftsmanship is superb. The packing is fantastic, you couldn't have broken an eggshell in there if you played football with the parcel. Can't wait to try it!

Thanks Peter

My lightbox arrived on Friday so beautifully packaged it took all evening to unwarp! Thank goodness the sky was cloudy.

Thanks Pete, you've done a wonderful job. I'm sure if you calculated the hours you put in to making the lightboxes by the money you charge it's virtually a labour of love.

Anyway, look out dust motes - you are history now!

thanks again Pete

You are not wrong there Niko, there is a lot of time spent building these things.
When packed, there is enough bubble wrap to fill a bath nearly!!
Glad you are satisfied with end result.

Cheers

This may be the wrong place to ask, my apologies in advance if it is, but what does a light box do? Why is using one a good idea?
