Another M42!

After a couple months break to settle in to a new job at a new town, it's Orion season again! The sky here is fantastic but the backyard FOV isn't too great. So I only have about 2 hours ish per whatever target I choose to the East.

Definitely one of my best M42 (only did 3 in 10 years aha).

Simple set up with the colour ASI1600MC pro with the Esprit100ED on a EQ6Pro-DX (EQ6pro on a CGEM DX tripod ).

69x 180sec
20x 30sec (for the core)

That's really nice, Tony!

The stand out for me here is the dust! I've heard of the dark shark, but I think I've now also found the dark worm in the lower left in this image.

Have you been getting out with portable power at all? Cool to hear you've settled in

Wow Tony!...your simple set up has produced a really fine image, loving the colour fidelity and as Placidus said, has a lovely subtle 3D depth to it, super job

Nice smooth rendering with nice looking natural colours. Perhaps just a tad green present, but nothing to be too worried about though. The detail looks nice too, not over sharpened which can often be the case with this object.

I use 2x 48Ah AGM battery for most things. Since this was in my backyard, I use mains for my Intel NUC. Otherwise I'd have a third 48Ah battery!

Wonderful!
Just out of curiosity, how are you blending the core exposures?
I tend to process two images separately, then when done, blend in Photoshop. Is this how you do it as well?

I use HDR composition in Pixinsight. Minimal processing required as its done in the non-linear phase. Just a quick DBE and noise reduction and merge the two using this feature.

Apologies, I'm not familiar with Pixinsight (I mostly use Startools and Photoshop). Are you stacking two FITS/TIFs first, then blending those two via HDR in Pixinsight?
