Light Boxes

I have just recently completed building myself a couple of light boxes and I am very pleased with the results. If anyone is interested in me building one for them, PM me and I can discuss price etc, one thing is for sure, they are going to be at least a third of the price of imported ones, and IMHO work just as well. The two attached images will give you some sort of idea of my construction. My method of construction allowes the light box to fit over the front of the telescope/dew shield, much like a cover so one does not need to balance it on the scope.
I use a 12v lighter type connector for the power, and each LED is rated at between 6000mcd and 12000mcd depending on the size of the box required.
If interested please feel free to ask any questions.

I am still doing these, a slight glitch coming up though, am going to have my left shoulder operated on next week (19th November), it is totally stuffed, so will see what transpires after the operation. Hopefully it will be all fixed and I will be able to continue making these, I am very optimistic

Hi There,

If you can, how much for a light box to suit a Meade 10" LX200GPS. I have a ADM rail on one side for guide camera and what I think is a Milburn rail for a weight on the other side. Full rails each side. Hope that maks sense.

Cheers,

Damien.

Peter:

Let us know when you are back in business. I'm moving back to Adelaide at the end of the year and have need for a light box.

All the best, good luck with the operation.
OIC!

Currently I am in a shoulder sling, apparently I have to wear it for 6 weeks, what a pain. One thing that they put on me in surgery was a little device called a "pain-buster", now this works a treat.
http://www.iflo.com/prod_onq_classic.php It deadened the area for 48hrs, which was brilliant. Having said that, once it runs out of juice, you get the full on pain returning.

I just had a chance to whip open Peter's handiwork for my GSO RC8 (it was sitting in a box while I've been out of town). It looks superb and is very light (I had always thought the box was made out of wood according to the photos...) - can't wait to test it out in anger.

Thanks Peter! Hope you're recovering well.

No worries Dave, glad you are happy with the light box. Slowly improving, but going to be ages before I have full range of movement without going through the roof trying...

Hi Peter,

Glad you're recovering.

Could you give me a quote for a box for a Meade 10" SCT? I've also fitted a custom rail for a guide scope,

Cheers

Jon

I have just finished making 2 light boxes, the shoulder is on the mend and did not affect my construction of them, so all is good. These things take some months to heal, I would not recommend this operation unless absolutely necessary.

Finally the clouds cleared and I got to use my lightbox for the first time. Works a treat! Thanks a million, Peter. Hope the shoulder improves quickly.

Cheers

Jonathan
