Meade 6000 70mm - where to buy?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a Meade Series 6000 70mm Quadruplet but I can't find a supplier in Australia. Does anyone know where I might be able to buy one? Are there any suppliers online who could help out?

Rene

Meade went bankrupt recently so any warranty issues could be a problem.

Ok,

So we have this in our Sydney warehouse and any Australian Meade dealer would be able to supply it through us if they don't have it in stock already.

Re warranty for Meade gear, they're in a chapter 11 debt restructuring and still trading with hopefully a long future ahead for Meade. Something everyone in the astronomical community would like to see no doubt. Bit of a complex issue so not an topic we can comment on any further.

Regardless of this, we'll support Meade products in terms of service and spares locally.

you can always purchase the William optics equivalent quadruplet
The Seller has mixed reviews on here so I'm showing you this more as an example of the equivalent scope

Plenty of stories on Cloudy Nights about refractors with collimation issues. Even more stories about focuser issues.

Surely that is not a guarantee issue, you don't return a reflecting scope if the thing needs collimating, same with a refractor, unless it can't be done by you and then it could be your fault, many people damage things and blame others.

I have collimated my refractor, quite a simple process.

Most focussers are also adjustable aren't they

Collimating a refractor is a lot more complicated than collimating a reflector and is beyond most people.

Focusers are adjustable but some have issues that can't be adjusted out. Google William Optics focuser issues and you'll find a ton of stories. I bought a new WO scope years ago and the focuser was unusable and couldn't be fixed. The scope was returned under warranty.

Thanks. Everyone seems to be a Meade stockist but don't stock the quad I'm after.

I wouldn't touch Meade if I were you, they went broke, you may find a dealer in the USA that is ditching Meade gear at ridiculous prices as they are all so keen to get out of this brand. Other than this try a TS Quad from Germany but caution on the import costs as here they are higher than where I come from (USA).
