Moon photo 27/01/08

This is one my first decent images of the Moon on 27/01/08

I took about 80 images and kept only about 12 of them.
Taken through my LX200 10 inch.

This is my favourite shot, and I reckon it shows the Crater Tycho and the surrounding rays very nicely.

Thanks for looking..

From the looks of it I'd say Geoff used a Canon Ixus 70, ISO 160 and around a 1/125 sec exp.

Nice capture Geoff.

Thanks for the comments.

I enjoyed staying up for hours fighting off mozzies, and just observing the Moon between shots.
I dont often observe the Moon as a Waning Gibbous, as its usually a waxing crescent, when its easier to do so.
I took these photos by hand ( no camera mount ) with my Canon IXUS 70.
Unfortunately this camera cannot be operated remotely.
But I still want a camera mopunt to hold it steady near the eyepiece for more shots down the track.

I cropped some and enhanced the contrast on others, thats all I did really.

Thanks for the comments.

Thanks Paul,
I was using a 17mm eyepiece. I dont know the field of view. It gives me nice close ups and I find that I use it quite a bit when doing observig of the planets and the moon.

It wasnt a really expensive one, It retails for about $150.00 at York Optical if I remember.

Cheers.

Geoffro.
