Hello,
A prominent eclipse chaser, Glenn Schneider, is conducting a survey on solar eclipses for an upcoming talk at the 2014 Solar Eclipse conference. I'm passing on his message in the hope we can increase Australia's representation in the survey. It is 100% anonymous and only takes a few minutes, I'll copy his original message below:
Quote:
In advance of the international Solar Eclipse Conference to be held Oct. 25/26 in Cloudcroft, New Mexico USA:
I am conducting a survey of eclipse chasers/enthusiasts (casual to "die hard") to inform an anonymous statistical study I plan to report on in a talk to be given at that conference:

PLEASE help by taking a few minutes to answer a few questions here:

I am hoping for a statistically significant sample to report on. Of course, responses solicited (here) through the Solar Eclipse Mailing List will bias the results to those with a predilection for eclipses. So PLEASE feel free to (and PLEASE do!) appropriately cross-post this request to other (appropriate) newsgroups, social media sites, or directly via email to broaden the response base.
Technical Note: The polling web site has two modes for access:
"Use Safe Mode" for polls approved for general audiences, and
"Do not use Safe Mode" for polls possibly containing 'adult content'.
I can assure you this is a "Safe" poll! The web site, however (at least for now)
is requiring a user setting of "do not use dafe mode" to access this pole.
PLEASE do not let that put you off! Perhaps "Umbraphillia" triggers a
flag/filter for 'adult' content?
This is a non-commercial survey, and NO personal information to associate responders with individuals is solicited. No email or other follow-ups will result. Statistical results from the survey will be also be on-line following the 2014 solar eclipse conference.
Thanks very much.
Wishing you clear skies, and good seeing,
Glenn Schneider
