5/5/15 Eclipse of Europa by Io

Several mistakes I made here, but nonetheless I am pleased I was able to extract some good IR data

Frame rate was a touch lower than i wanted given the extended ROI i needed to ensure Europa was in the frame. Io was simply too far away to get in the same image. I imaged it separately and was going to do a composite, but thought I would rather show the event as naturally as possible.

Seeing at astronomical twilight wasnt as good as I was hoping for.

I went for the most natural composite I could, no derotation, just stacked and minor sharpening.

I will post up a zoomed in view of Europa a little later because I was able to capture the shadow movement of Io too (ie non arbitrary dimming).

EdgeHD 925 with QHY5L-II @ >f/40.

Sorry Ron, I realise the title isnt so great. Wasn't really sure what the technically correct event description should be!

This is Europa being eclipsed by Io's shadow, where Io is off to the right but out of frame.

How big's the scope. I saw it easily through only 130mm.

Really well done Krishan, and vastly superior to the dodgy few frames I got. Nice to see that I wasn't imagining it though
