Folks,
This was a bit of a tricky one for me, with Jupiter not being very high this year, we're way past opposition and our neighbours' pool surrendering its heat and moisture to the atmosphere to the north and west of my little spot...
Anyways, I was determined to get something out of the King of Planets this year and much to my amazement it was clear in Sydney for the second night in a row
Taken only 10 minutes apart, these sequences were using my C11 on EQ6 and QHY5L-ii OSC at native f/10. I subsequently tried to grab some data with the 2.5x Powermate inline but either the seeing deteriorated in the time it took me to retool and refocus, or the frame rate at the higher resolution wasn't quick enough, it hit one of the neighbouring jet streams
or my scope just isn't up to much
The first image is a stack of the best 20% of 2000 frames and the second is the best 20% of 10000 frames, hence it's a little smoother. Stacked in AS!2 and wavelets tweaked in Registax.
I'm pretty happy with the detail in these for f/10, it's just a shame I didn't get to have a crack at f/25. Another time
Suggestions/feedback on how to improve on these and my techniques always welcomed...
Cheers,
Dunk
