Just a reminder to any West Australians wondering about observing this event - we don't get to see it, especially if you're in Perth. It's all over by the time the moon rises.
But don't despair - we get two full total lunar eclipses next year! Looking forward to that!
heading up to the headland in woolgoolga its a beautiful sight to the east.taking the family some woodfired pizza's and clear weather should be a good night!!!! cant wait...
The moon won't be that contrasty being so close to the horizon would it?
It ain't gonna be a real "red" moon!
Alas, no, by the looks. It will still be light at totality up here, then as sky darkens, Earths shadow moves away.
Still be good though, as long as skies stay clear in that little area of the east. Not holding out high hopes though.

This will be great especially the December one I hope to use the June one for testing capture methods.

Thanks Liz,
It will still be worth watching anyways!
did a little searching for a spot yesterday afternoon before i got my C11 delivery . here is the view i could get from my secret location from King Edward Park in Newcastle. with some framing and postioning i hope to get a postcard shot timelapse showing the ocean baths and the moonrise directions taken from the alignment shown from the photographers ephemeris
A great view from Lennox Head ... some cloud on the horizon hid things for a few minutes then a charp clear sickle with the rest of disc opaque with a hint of light. Lucky to be able to watch it from an elevated position as more of the moon was exposed... A spectacular sight.
