Newt mirror cell

I have been making an 8 inch mirror cell out of scrap 8mm aluminium to take an f 7 mirror I have been given. The plan is to later make an f4 Mirror to fit the cell from another f7 I have.

My question is whether the six supports are ok as EPDM or if they should be nylon as per the mirror retaining, or even just a bar of EPDM. Not keen on silicone adhesive as makes it hard to remove mirror.

The support bars rock on the screw threads about 1mm but I can tighten That against the EPDM layer below.

I will trim and fit the upper retaining screws with retaining spacers and paint the whole assembly mat black when I am finished. I need also to find some shorter springs as these ones are 20mm x 1.5 mm wire thickness.
