I am organising a local public observing night in Nundah to which I’ll take the Dobsonian but I’d really like to make my refractor available too but for visual use it needs a taller platform than the EQ8 portable pier.
I’m hoping I can find someone in Brisbane who would be willing to lend me something to use for the night (July date yet to be set definitely but it will be the weekend of July 20th -22nd).
I need either an EQ6 that can accept a Losmandy plate or a capable tripod/pier to hold my EQ8. I can’t use the refractor without raising it up. I suppose the only other option would be to stand the short pier on a taller platform like a bleacher but I suspect that would weigh a fair bit and be rather too much trouble. Anyone who can help gets a free beer or two and of course invited to the event.
