Could be some stray light coming through the side of the camera. I have put electrical black tape on the circumference of the body on mine.

amp glow - as it gets warmer it shows more - use darks to subtract from the lights when processing

QHY 8 does not suffer from AMP glow Jen and in fact produces the one of the best noise free subs you can get

My qhy8 is also producing amp glow recently. I updated the drivers and prior to this never experienced the glow. I wonder if they have not enabled "amp off" in the current drivers? May have to check out via the QHYCCD forums. The weathers been so bad for so long I haven't bothered before now....

cheers

I think from memory they did have amp glow by default, or it was back to front, were Amp On, meant it would turn on the Anti Amp circuitry. and vice versa.
Make sure that Amp On, is set correctly. Try it one way, then the other.

Theo.

I found the same thing Gary when I updated to the 32/64 bit drivers recently. Where is the amp on/amp off control?

In Maxim when connecting to the QHY8 camera I use the ASCOM interface not direct to the QHY8 where if you slect this option you can change the AMP setting, by default it is set as AMP Off.

You don't get the same option selection when connecting through the ASCOM interface all you get is Gain/Offset so as I haven't touched the AMP setting, I would assume it's AMP Off and the band is being caused by something else.

Hi,
I have posted a query to the QHYCCD forums copied below:

"Hi,
the QHY8 ASCOM Driver StarSenseSci V1.6 has no amp off option ...... the amp off option is greyed out in the ascom driver. Now getting amp glow in the top left corner. Have not had this before. Can this be added to the driver please?"

cheers
Gary
