Hi John

In terms of general use, I’ve found these to be good when shooting low to the ground, either hand held or preferably tripod mounted. This was for day time use though.

I found them comfortable to use at the telescope, much like using a diagonal, but my preferred method of composing and focusing is Remote Live View, so I don’t use a right angle view finder on the Canon 40D.

These units are excellent, but i do refer to the Canon Angle finders, which are pretty pricey, I would be a little wary of a cheap version.

However having said that I can't really compare, as I have only used the Canon ones.

thx for the info- i might pick up one after more thinking, i read about 50-50 positive and negative on them- i thought id benefit from practically sitting on the ground using the normal viewfinder all the time
