Intes 809 or 815 Mak, or SCT or SW or Meade 7" Mak I can star test

Hi all,

I'm seeing if anyone has an Intes 809 or 815 Mak that needs a new home.

Another option could be an 8" SCT or a Skywatcher 7" Mak, but I would like to star test it first. Age of the unit isn't an issue as long as it's star test is superb to rival an Intes Mak.

Please let me know what you have.

Thanks for looking,

Alex.

The Meade or Celestron SCTs can of course also be of the ACF or Edge designs too, don't need to be exclusively of their traditional design.

I would also be happy to look at a Meade 7" Mak too!

Thanks for looking,

Alex.

Hi Alex,
Have you thought about a Tak Mewlon-180C? It is worth having a chat to Claude?

Thanks Chris for your PM

Dean, a Mewlon does sound interesting (a Dall Kirkham, whodathunk@!). I guess my only two questions are if the mirrors are overcoated as they are exposed, and how prone they are to dirt settling on them especially if and when they dew up. Where I live is where I'll be mainly using the cassegrain, and dew is more the norm than the exception here at home. Oh, and I also live on the coast in busy Sydney!

I'm more than happy for people to post their experiences in this thread or PM me, even if you don't have a scope to sell. Shared experiences all go to forming an informed decision.

Cheers,

Alex.

Last throw of the dice, shake of the tree, rubbing of a rabbit's foot, fingers crossed, finding a four leaf clover...
