M8 & m20

M8 & M20 taken back in July. And only now have had a chance to process.
82x 2min subs with ASI071pro-cooled on 80mm refractor, dithering (woo hoo!).

Processed and corrected with flats & bias (didn't use darks) with PI.

Nice crisp shot there Chris. That little refractor really packs a punch.

I am always surprised what an 80mm can produce and your image shows what a great scope they are..and it and the camera seem a wonderful combo...and I really like the colour (as I see it).
I am glad you posted this one.

Good result Chris.... you've gone easy on the saturation, its tempting to punch it up several levels especially on the triffid....

Nice detail, Chris. If it were my image, I would definitely push the colour a little more Would be good to see a little more colour in the stars and have the Ha areas look a little less salmon.

They've slowly been cooking away on your HD
It's looking good, nice detail and contrast.

Thanks all for the comments. I took on Rick's comment about the colour - he doesn't seem to appreciate the Ken Done effect, but who can account for taste ...

I tried to boost the colour, but no matter what I did it looked washed out. This was using backgroundNeutralisation & colourCalibration. I finally got photometricColourCal to work (had problems solving when I just used the coords from the FITs file) and it was much better. This is the result - maybe a bit over done but I'm happier with it.

And now its the new moon - but nothing but clouds and rain for the past few days, and looks like more of the same this week.

That looks much better Chris. I think you’ve got the colour just right doesn’t look over done to me.

Ohh and btw it looks like we’ll get one little break in the weather tonight before it clouds over again. A few different apps are telling me tonight is going to be excellent in Sydney with minimal cloud, 100% seeing and no wind.

I like the amount and intensity of blue nebulosity you got around the Trifid. Better than I've been able to achieve.
