…..and here's another NGC 253 for everyone's enjoyment (or bitter disgust at the plethora being presented here at the moment!)
About 3 hours of data as I was killing time with a couple guys from here last Saturday night. This one was a really tester for me as I was playing with gain, offset and exposure duration.
This image consists of a range of 60s to 300s, some flats, darks taken at the wrong gain and bias also taken at the wrong gain.
I have to ask, what is going on with those bright stars? They have a dark circle in the middle making them look like donuts? I have not seen that before.

Processing artefact.....to be honest I didn't notice them until it was too late.
Guess that's why I'm still hanging out in this beginners section hey!
Lovely shot Jon, the detail in the core is exquisite . That's a fine first go at this galaxy so it'll be a learning curve in exposing and processing, if I had got this result after my 10th go at it I would be happy!
Jon, quite a result you have here. There is a lot dished up in this image, heaps of swirling ripples and colour. I have always thought this galaxy is hard to get right(I’ve only had a go twice at it) and found it difficult to balance the core without much luck. Stars are perfectly round, fainter outer galaxies showing up too.
You have a fine setup running Jon.
Congrats

Cheers Mike, yeah I'm pretty happy with the outcome on this one. Amazing what a few hours under the stars can produce hey!
Cheers Anth. The time spent on fine tuning the rig is definitely paying off.
I also have to say I'm really impressed with this camera. From all the research I was told a One Shot Colour (OSC) wouldn't get up there and play with the big boys using mono cameras with a range of filters.
I think this pic speaks for itself and shows that a OSC can produce some pretty reasonable pictures.
