Watching a 'Wanderer'.

Even though I have known the term, Retrograde Motion for years, I have never really paid attention long enough to actually note the phenomenon. But lately I have been watching Mars as it moved West through Scorpious - the stars of its claws are wonderful markers. Now Mars is moving into Libra and will continue so until late June, then stop for a short while and head back East into Scorpious.

It has been quite exciting observing a 'wanderer' for the first time and 'seeing' the Solar System in motion.

At around this time or before, I tell people to get a sheet of paper and plot the position's of brighter stars in the sky and also Mars.
Go out every few days and put in the current position of Mars and continue doing this for the following month or so, you can then see the motion of Mars across the sky.
A very interesting exercise.
Cheers
