Eyepiece Projection Focusing

Can anyone tell me the setup used for eyepiece projection photography of the Moon and Planets. I have a 8" f/5 scope. Say if i wanted to use a 9mm eyepiece with a Canon 40d attatched to the adaptor, what sort of travel will i need in the focuser to attain focus. Basically I am not able to achieve focus, so do i need to use a barlow etc. I've trowled the net and would just like someone to tell me in a simple way how to do this. Steve.

Hi Steve
Check out the thread called (funnily enough) "Eyepiece Projection" a little down the page. A few people have, hopefully, shed a little light on the subject.
