IC 2944 First NB

IC 2944 (Running Chicken Nebula)


This is my first Narrow band image


IC 2944 is an open cluster with an associated emission nebula found in the constellation Centaurus, near the star Lambda Centauri at a visual magnitude of +3.1 and lies 420 light years away. It features Bok globules, which are frequently a site of active star formation. IC 2944 lies around 6500 light away from Earth amd its around 75 lights years in diameter.

Skywatcher 72ED
HEQ5 Pro Belt mod
ZWO 1600mm with Filter Wheel
Ha 5.25hrs
OIII 3.2hrs
SII 3.0hrs
Total time = 11.45hrs

I do have a higher res but I can't upload it. Its about 10MB in size.

Presents very nicely indeed. The wide field does it justice as well.
Were you not able to upload it to your Astrobin account? I wasn't aware of a size limit.

I have been doing LRGB with HA and OIII for a while. I just got my SII filter a few weeks ago.


So I had to learn how to process NB imaging compared to LRGB.

I need to redo my account subscription, funds are tight at the moment and I'm waiting to have more pics to upload first.
