Jup in good seeing

Here is a image of Jupiter in better seeing than the last time. Jupiter was 61° for my location and the diameter was 41.6 arcseconds.
On the lower left is oval BA and the GRS is on the other side.

Equipment used:

C11

ASI224mc

ADC

Stupid question - is that what you actually see in the scope? I don't think I've ever had anything like that amount of detail in mine! :-/

It's like having your very own Voyager probe :-)

Markus it's not a silly question.

The short answer is no.
I admit that I rarely look through an eyepiece but when I have the view is a lot more subtle than the image. Keep in mind the image you see here is the result of lucky imaging. Taken only the best frames, stacking them, sharpening is applied and contrast enhanced. With the eye you see everything no enhancements, but for visual observing I do have great views also

Animation added but size reduce because of forum limits.

Ah, I need to up my processing game, obviously. I only ever seem to get the same level of detail as I saw at the eyepiece.

Cheers guy's.

a 6 or 7 / 10 based off the way the star was moving around. I'm now thinking more 6 but either way but no less than 6 and no higher than 7, is that as clear as mud

This video was a 2 minute run and using the short video technique so no derotation at all.

It's a shame the animation is a bit small here ah well.

If you don't mind me asking, what percentage of best frames do you keep to work with for a 2 minute video?

Best,

Markus

Markus it's around 10%. In good seeing slightly more and when the seeing is off slightly less.

Its remarkable how high the standard is now for planetary imaging. That is an outstanding image.

Blimey, with 2 minutes of video for the animation (?) that shows loads of rotation. The planet is motoring! No wonder there's little detail when I stack 2-3 minutes of dslr images.
