OSC NB work arounds

If I use an H-a filter on my ST-8300C, it will naturally illuminate only the red part of the Bayer Matrix - essentially 2 out of the 4 parts of the pixel will receive illumination.

To get around this "gap" would dithering by 1 pixel alleviate this gap?

Or am I totally unthinking

I don't think it could make any difference at all. It wouldn't change the fact that 3/4ths of the colour matrix over the CCD would be blind. But, I suppose overall if you dithered you could more easily remove fixed pattern noise when you stacked.

Lewis,

if you use DSS, use super pixel mode to get around it. i am not sure what it correlates to in other programs.

Yes, can bin 2x2.

I have seen H-a integration done with OSC (even a write up by PHD creator Craig Stark and also an article in S&T), so not disheartened yet.

And what a fine result!!!

I do have a Baader 7nm H-a filter (2"), so it will be done. I tried it with the FLI ML8300C to VERY satisfactory results, but was hoping there was a way to IMPROVE the signal.
