Webcam - things just getting worse :-(

I have identified two black wires broken on the board to the aGent webcam.

Tried plugging it in to USB and fiddling with thin black wire. Took a photo to confirm the re-attachment order and when I plugged in the camera to download photo the Canon camera wasn't recognised.

Now no USB device is recognised. Memory stick, canon camera - zip

Did I fritz the USB with my fiddling??

Possibly... ESD discharge can damage any electronic gadget if precautions were not taken..
How about using another USB port? (usuallly there are couple of them on each motherboard).
If all of them are unusable, it may be the driver issue....

Sometimes an OS will disable a USB port or even the whole USB subsystem if it detects a device pulling too much power. This is especially true of shared device ports - such as on the end of a USB keyboard chain.

Any more info, What type of PC is it. What OS are you using. Is the USB disabled in the BIOS. Have a look in control pannel, system hardware device manager. Is the USB showing up in that.

Thanks guys...did a search on the good ol' interweb and discovered that if you pull out the power cable from the PC, wait 30 mins and plug back in it resets itself.

Lo and behold - it worked and all working fine

It's a tip worth remembering
