Coolah images

Having spent a few fantastic nights at Coolah and a slew of computer issues I did manage a few images. I took flats but I had a frosted sensor only while taking the flats so they need to be retaken. NGC 3372 I've tried to map the vignetting but with M84 and NGC 5128 I've just cropped the vignetting.

Hi Colin,

A few days ago I was coming down from the north and stopped for the night in Coolah caravan park. The man at the office said that there were a bunch of astronomers in the camp but could not give any details.

Nice work Colin. Something to be said for wide-field galaxy shots, gives them some context that's missing in the close-ups. Some very cool little fuzzies in that cluster!

There was a few people from the star party staying at the Coolah Caravan Park but there was also another astro gathering closer to Coonabarabran that weekend too.

It was real pleasure seeing it in a 24”, looked remarkably similar but without colour. It’s amazing how similar these galaxies appear visually compared to a luminance image.

Thanks Lee, it’ll be even wider once I get some non-frosted flats

Beautiful pictures. Never seen so many big dobs in one place. Not many photons left in the sky after that obsession rampage.

Well done.

Nice set of shots Colin, from what I recall it is pretty dark up at that neck of the woods.

Cheers
Peter
