Ovision Worm

I wasn't expecting it to arrive so soon! Ordered it last Thursday, and arrived this (Tuesday) morning from France! Pretty good service I think

Looking forward to seeing the results hopefully!

How much is it landed?

I want to replace mine, too, but am terrified of performing the task, as I'm not mechanically-minded in the least.

Trev, this is for the losmandy G11 RA drive. It replaces the stock worm gear that comes with the mount.

Cost me $612.22 including the international transaction fee! Instructions seem very clear. Wont be hard to do, but yeah paranoid about damaging it when putting it in!

They say to rest the scope down so it hits the mount when installing it, as not to damage the worm from any movement of the RA.

Very keen to see how it performs.

Thanks, for the heads-up!

I assume you will update this thread with your install and results?

I installed one on G11 a few years back. Dead easy. The PE measured at Ovision factory was super low, Paramount/AP low in fact.

Tell me about it. The missus has been very, very patient with little items coming in dribs and drabs. Wait until she sees the medium format gear that's heading my way, haha.

Dealer hat off for a bit.....

Franc's Ovision worms are indeed excellent.

However the OPW Losmandy worm assembly is easily on a par and less expensive by a good margin.

They both work well by using similar methods to null-out any tangential play in the worm assembly bearings....(my personal OPW modded G-11 returning around +/- 2 arc sec).

In any event, installing the Ovision or Losmandy OPB is *the* one upgrade you can make to a G-11 that seriously improves its performance

Current model titans already have high-spec worm housings.
