asi 1600mm 1st light

Hi everyone,

This object is unknown to me, I just pointed my telescope to the sky towards our beautiful southern side. Strapped for time I took this HaLRGB 15mins a channel total 75mins @30sec exposures gain 139 only lights, with bortle 2 skies and a waxing gibbous moon.

Pixinsight wouldn’t let me process just lights in the script so it was blink to sort the good images-deep sky stacker-star alignment-rgb combination-L+Ha added-a histogram stretch and crop and here we are. I will say it was an interesting process doing all of this as it was the first time I have used the 1600mm pro coming from a dslr. Lots to learn and you can really see the potential for some great images. I think I may need to 1 upgrade the mount or rebuild it the eq6 was probably pushed to its limits. I managed to guide around 1 arc sec but I'm sure it needs better. (10 inch newton 4.7 and Orion guide scope.

If anyone know this object, please let me know. Much more time and love is needed, but it was great to get my toes wet anyway. Life is so busy atm, but I managed to scratch an itch well over due.

Clear skies to you all!

Dan

That is the The Gabriela Mistral Nebula (NGC 3324) Quite close to that is Eta Carina which is huge. Nice catch for your first cooled camera image.
