Nikon D90 Filter-Mod in Melb ???

Hi All,

New to this forum, but not that new to astronomy/photography ;-)

Does anyone know who/where in Melbourne that does the filter-mod to a Nikon D90? and approx costs?
I believe i've reached the limitations of my Nikon, and now need to remove the internal IR filter to take things to the next step.

Also, After a camera has it's IR filter removed, is it still ok for regular daylight/land photography? or do i need to screw on a suitable IR filter to "normalise" it again ???

If it's all too hard, i'll consider buying a 2nd body for IR, and my existing cam for "regular" work.

Thanx in advance...

Hi Marty, welcome to the forum.

My EOS20D has been modded, and it is fine for daytime photography.

All I needed to do was set the custom white balance (which I did by photographing a light grey sheet of card (15% I think it was)), and telling the camera to work off of that.

It worked nicely, so now I have the best of both worlds.

Hope you can find a modifier for you Nikon.
