M42 - 4 panel mosaic

Having fun now!

SGP worked like a charm (finally).

Details:
Each panel 50 X 60s subs gain 140

I was able to halve the processing time by using two computers.

1: Each image set processed separately to produce 4 master images.
2: StarAlign in 'Register/Union Mosaic' working mode.
3: StarAlign in Register/Match Images working mode.
4: Used the registered 4 images in Gradient Merge Mosaic.

But still a lot of work, about 23 hours all up (that includes acquisition, coffee breaks and some sleep :-)

Thanks for looking!

Great image well done !!
Lot of work there but like you said a lot of fun too !
Next step I suppose is to learn how to expose the Trap with short subs and use a Layering module , something which I tried last year in Startools but failed miserably. Going to try again this summer , I’m determined to nail it
I’m down at my weekender at Narra with the missus ( retirement getaway) for 2 weeks to start my Obs dome prep work , dig , dig and more digging and kids and grandkids coming down on long weekend too
Captured NGC 253 on Tuesday night and NGC 55 last night in all that wind , I’m surprised the EQ6-R mount with the 8” f5 newt handled it quite well , only an occasional spike in Ra
Cheers
Martin
