PHD Guidning hep needed

hoping to have this vast community offer some assistance (again!).

Am using an Agent webcam and PHD guiding. Not sure what "drver" from the camera menu to use for the Agent so selected a generic Windows one. Clicked the looping button and got various frames of pixellated static. Should I be trying another driver or have I verlooked something even more basic?

any help greatly appreciated.

many thanks everyone

niko

niko - my suggestion is point it at a bright star and check that it is in focus. I've seen PHD present a screen of pixellated static when it is unable to find an in-focus star. When I focus it on a star it returns to a "normal" image. Perhaps the brain is too smart!

Shine a torch or bright light on the webcam sensor to establish that it is working/connected - PHD screen will go crazy then settle when light is removed. Static is the default for PHD!!!!
Next step as Peter suggests - find a bright star to adjust focus.
Good luck

Also, set you frame rate to 0.05. this will give a live picture move the scope from side to side so you can tell the stars from hot pixels.
