Canon 500D

Canon has released a 500D with live view, full HD video and 15.1 MP.
l'm no camera expert but at an advertised price of around $1600 with lens this should be a winner.

Cannon 500 D

Hi All,
I have just preordered a 500 D to replace a 1000 D I purchased in January presuming it was an adequate camera for Astro imaging. I have since been informed 1000 D is substandard in certain aspects compared to other medium level entry DSLR's. I presume 15.1 megapixles and Digic 4 processor and 14 Bits over 12 Bits would be a vast improvement in image quality - pardon my newbyness, but if anyone can clarify and let me know if I am making the right decision it would be greatly appreciated because if anyone knows it's you guys.
thanks
Darrell

Hi Darrell, I just picked up my 500D yesterday. I have upgraded from the 350D and it seems this one is up there between the 40d and 450d.
Heaps of new features for me to get used to so at this stage very happy and can't wait to try it out.

Cheers Daniel.

Hi Daniel,
Have you had a chance to take a couple of images.
Just curious to how it performs with DSO's.

Hi Paul, the weather here has been miserable and I have only managed to to a few test shots so far and I am very impressed with the live view feature for focus.
I am sure it will perform well so as soon as I get some decent clear sky here I will be giving it a run and posting the results.

Cheers Daniel.

If the darn AUD makes parity, I shall use Mr Rudds bonus to go towards a purchase from Hutech, of one modded 500D
