While the tak is good quality I feel like it's more of a visual scope. As lewism has said before, I'd be better off with a modern scope for imaging.

Sorry Logan, there is no logic in what you just said. Modern is not necessarily better. If it was true I'd be selling my 16yr old Q and my 14 yr old CN-212. The MT160 is a superb little scope unless there is something dramatically wrong with yours. I think you'll be trading down to a lesser scope by paying the same price and the end results might disappoint you.

As I have said mark, I do not like the focal length and I want to move to a wider field eg 400mm. I don't see why that is illogical?

Not the FL, what you said about old vs. modern. Anyway good luck with your imaging.

Thanks Marc.
I think my most reasonable option is the fs-78.and sky 90 reducer. My one concern is that it's a bit slow at f6.5?
Is that a big deal?

Sounds like this might be a better fit... faster, shorter FL, and no need for a flattener/corrector:

or even

Under 500mm you may find a telephoto camera lens is better.

That 71 does look very nice, relatively cheap and a lot of astrobin pics with it! GST might get me bad though

You need to put a floor under how small you want to go, and a 71 is getting pretty small. I have compared 80mm and 60mm scopes, imaged with both, and the 80mm is much more useful imho unless you just want to do really wide field shots. You can reduce 80s as well.

I reckon images from the MT-160 look superb. You should buy one.

Oh, wait...
