Seeing and not seeing

Last night Jupiter, Saturn and Moon were TERRIBLE...must have been very poor atmospheric conditions...but Eta Carinae was great! So are DSO's less affected by "seeing"? Was great to be out again with no worries about mozzies and sweat! Go late autumn!

I had the opposite to you fair to good seeing for the planets/moon,but poor for Eta Carainae.
It is because the planets and the Moon are reflected light and much brighter than the "faint Fuzzies" any atmosphere disturbance is magnified by the telescope optics.
It also could be the position of the objects in the sky,my southern part of the sky was very poor and yet the northern eastern part was particularly quite steady.
Atmospheric conditions are not always the same over the whole dome of the sky,due to terrain, buildings, roads, trees, etc.
Cheers

Yep last night looked promising but the planets and moon were a complete write-off. Very disappointing.
