private messaging problem

I can't send an initial pm. Nothing shows in the sent box & submit has been pressed.

Can reply to pm's.
Can't find any settings to change.
email works normally. Windows 10 with no problems sofar.
Any assistance appreciated.

By default sent messages are not saved on here

Go to User CP, Edit Options, Messaging & Notifications, Private messaging, Tick the box "save copy of sent messages ......."

could also be that the recipient's mail box is full?
