Longer FL imaging

I finally purchased the extender for my FSQ-85, which wil make it almost f/8. Whilst not particularly long, it'll certainly be deeper than f/5.3

Any tips for imaging at the longer FL's? I have ZERO issues guiding at f/5.3 (flatline for all intents and purposes, yes, even in Arcsec...). I usually guide with 3 sec exposures, and generally between 10 and 20 min per sub unfiltered - would going shorter exposure limit any discernible elongation if present in the longer FL runs?

My intention is PN's as they really are my "thing" (might have to go even longer), and I will be using an Optolong L-extreme filter on an OSC. 85mm may not be ideal for deeper imaging, but nothing ventured, nothing gained (plus with the extender, at least planet and lunar visual observing is more favourable)

Lewis, your Vixen flat-line guide graphs are stuff of legend. You should do a video like the iOptron slimy car salesman guy has - “you can’t make thus stuff up” (guiding from a 50mm objective, 162mm FL guide scope aka “toilet roll”!) https://youtu.be/3ac2e_sTQVw

Ok, with that out of my system. I’ve really enjoyed extender-toa imaging on the TOA refractor. It’s F11 something, slow but very well corrected. You’ll find the same I’m sure. The only must - an OAG! You’re probably already using one right? Suggest no toilet roll guiding in an extender-type setup

Damn, no more sheety guiding? Logan, your suggestions are crap (that was HUMOUR people... build a bridge if necessary )

That's the plan Logan. If it doesn't work out, well, whatever really. If I get an image at the end - and lord knows how mediocre mine are - then success in my book. Not there to impress a single other soul, but to tickle my own.

But yeah, this mount is legendary. You'se all just jealous

Yeah, but you image at f/97 or something with that beautifully restored CN212 - it's no wonder you have little left of that flouncy French hair...
