Cable for EQ6r pro

Hey guys,

Just purchased an eq6r pro (can't wait for it to arrive!)

Will the cable below work for a direct pc connection from the mount?

Cheers,
D

If it’s a new EQ6-R you should have the additional USB2B port connection so you can use a USB2B to USB2A cable up to 5m long
If it’s an old one without the USB2B port connection ( just the handcontroller port ) you will need an EQ Direct cable from Shoestring Astronomy or similar

Hey Martin,

Thanks for the clarification. It is new (Bintel finally received new stock).

That cable looks like a printer cable.

Think I have a few lying around already.

Cheers,
D

Are you going to control your mount with EQMOD and a planetarium like Stellarium.
If so, I have a full step by step procedure to achieve this
Let me know

Hey Martin,

Sorry for the late reply. Was snowed under at work.

I have already come across your step by step instructions. Super useful! In the process of making a power cable out of an old laptop power brick. The power cable for the EQ6r-pro is comes from an aviation connector. What a random thing for Skywatcher to use.

Can't wait to have it all up and running.

Cheers,

D

At least the power plug on the EQ6-R mount has a captive threaded lock ring to secure the power plug into the mount power socket
On the HEQ5 mount ( I just sold mine recently) it’s just a 3.5mm centre positive push in plug ( not really secure )
Hope my EQMOD/ Stellarium procedure goes smoothly for you
Cheers

It is already working on the EQMOD sim. Just waiting for a night off to test it out.

Merry Christmas,
