A round of applause for Starlight Xpress

What a pleasant surprise. I posted my 7 year-old SX CCD back to the UK for what I expected to be major surgery. That was Friday 15th. And to my very considerable surprise, they have just email'd me to say they are sending it back DHL Express today. Allowing for a week to get there, this means a turnaround time of barely 2 working days and they have not asked me to pay for repairs or for return freight. Strewth! That's about as good as it gets!

And the nicest people in the Astro business to ever talk with on the phone.
Always helpful and always been available when needed.

Told ya

Terry is SUPERB to deal with. He handled the not-insignificant fault with my cam in around 2 days after receipt as well.

Great news Peter.

When I accidentally fried my Lodestar Terry fixed it for free and also didn't ask me to pay for a return freight. I know of no other astro company providing equally good or a better service.

I have used SX gear since 2003 with my first CCD camera, an SX MX716 and Terry Platt and Mike Hattey have been wonderful, generous operators

I was fortunate enough to finally meet Mike Hattey at the Texas Star Party last year. It was a genuine thrill to finally meet one of the SX team, that had been so instrumental in my imaging journey. I look forward to one day finally meeting Terry Platt too, he exudes a real feeling of being your friend and partner in the game, rather than just a superficial salesperson and his generous and helpful actions support this feeling 100%.

Well, it had to come I suppose. I wrote to Gill Hattey at SX to find out what it was that they found at fault with my CCD. The reply came with an invoice for the repair and return. I'm not complaining - far from it. The invoice was only for a flat 40 pounds (apx A$80) which included the DHL return delivery. You can't complain about that. Those guys are outstanding.

Have had two SX cameras repaired/exchanged in a similar manner. Their no fuss attitude of dealing with long out of warranty repairs is amazing and the reason I’ll buy from them again in the future.
