Talking Guiding Setup - ST4/PHD/Stellarium/Serial

I understand the two methods of guiding, however if I use a ST4 guiding setup is it okay to use a serial cable/USB combo from the laptop to the Synscan (GOTO) to use Stellarium to move the scope to an object, but using PHD2 in “on camera” for guiding, or will the system get confused in which to follow.

Rob,
Tracking and GOTO using Stellarium (I use Cartes du Ciel) is completely independent of the guiding.
The guiding routine using PHD2 can be used at any time - just needs calibration and a target star.

The preferred method recommended by the PHD developers for PHD2 is pulse guiding direct to the camera ( ie connect camera straight to laptop )
I use Stellarium for goto and tracking with a shoestring cable from laptop to mount ( handcontroller port )
All you need EQMOD , StellariumScope and Stellarium on your Laptop
And of course PHD2 (all free )
It works really well, incredibly accurate and tracking is spot on. PHD2 is working really good for meads well
I can send you some info if you want
Cheers
