You know what's funny-sad about this, British sci-fi boys comic 2000A.D. predicted this type of LEO advertising, in a story published shortly after then US President Reagan came up with his SDI project.
In the story, Soviet Russia had just put into orbit an Aeroflot ad, visible in all states of the USA.
The story closes with one character saying that Coca-Cola is planning a bigger ad for Russia for next year.
