Camera for my Coronado Solarmax 2 for streaming

Hi all,

I'm hoping for some suggestions for a USB camera that I can plug into my Coronado SolarMax 2 so that I may just stream video to my computer or screen for display purposes. I have no need to create videos though that function would be appreciated. I'm also looking for a low cost option, not looking to spend a fortune hehe

What I've found so far;

ZWO ASI 290MC Colour Camera
Celestron Neximage 5MP Imager
Celestron Neximage 10MP Imager

These are within my price bracket but I don't know if they will suit my purpose.

Cheers

For live video. I can't really say, but a fast frame mono would be my choice.

B/W is the go. Colour cameras don't behave well at all in Ha.

The biggest question is whether you go for an AV camera or USB. AV cameras are great for broadcasts directly into a TV or projector and hence useful for outreach, but suffer from low resolution. USB cameras require a computer to view so add some complexity to the process but ultimately give far better resolution views.

Use this tool to match the camera to your scope, The ZW Optical ASI178M looks like a good fit for your focal length.

Hi Jonathan, thanks for your reply. I ended up going for the ZWO ASI 290MC Colour Camera mate. Bintel was having a Boxing Day special. Fingers crossed mate.

Cheers
