16/4/12 Spectacular Galaxy Night!

Well finally a really nice night here in Colac. Still, clear, no smoke!
Galaxies galore for the taking. Will publish a full list later but easily the best views of Cenraurus A and M83 I have ever seen, and that includes from Snake Valley!
The arms in M83 were clear and the overall galaxy was much larger than I have ever seen even in the 17mm Ethos at 88x. Cent A had clear dark lanes weaving in and out and again the faint outer halo was clear to see.

Shame I had to come in!

Malcolm

Sounds good Malcolm. Glad the DSE weren't doing their stupid forestry arson for once. If it's not clouds, it's always something else. After 3 days of horrendous bad luck with the weather, I'm getting keen on finally getting out tonight for some galaxy observation. Looking forward to the full report.

Can't remember the last half way decent galaxy night so it's great to hear you had such a good one Malcolm. Looking forward to the report.
