Zwo camera choice advice please

Hi, I want to get a zwo camera to do some planetary, but also want to dip my toes into dso too.
I have a limited budget and was thinking of either 224mc or 290mc.
Any guidance would be gratefully recieved folks.

290mc is newer and has a better Dynamic range the 224 is a workhorse however Neither would be really suitable for deep space. you might even consider a 178mc or 183mc

Both those camera have tiny sensors approx 6mm in diagonal, and would only be suitable for planets using short exposure times.

They would be unsuitable for DSO's due to the small sensor size. Also they are not cooled, so you would be limited in exposure time before the dark current noise overwhelms the image.

If you can hold off and save up a bit, get a camera with a larger sensor that has cooling, like the ASI533MC or ASI183MC both 16mm diagonal.

You will be able to do planetary and DSO's this way. There are only 3 planets worth imaging Mars, Jupiter and Saturn and you will get bored with just those three after a couple of months, if you bought a small sensor camera.
