Another brief one...

Thanks to clouds but also a need not to engage with so much doom and gloom I threw what I collected on April 1st together to create this HDR HOO version of Eta Carina with the aim of seeing what I could get of the Homunculus. It’s not what I had hoped but there’s a bit of a shape I guess. OIII is very deficient at this point (the last images before the clouds). Comments welcome, especially on how I might better get more of the Homunculus. OIII seems to show it more perhaps?

I like the colours. You did get something of the homunculus ( a hard word to pronounce!).

Greg.

Thanks for the nice comments. Again feel a bit guilty for the short duration of this but it is what it is and I was pretty happy with the processing. Played with framing a bit and now have this, which aims to focus on the really cool stuff and keep it all in some kind of balance:

I don't think I've ever said the word Homunculus out loud...

That is a spectacular image Ben & the size & quality of your upload is remarkable for only 179kb. What's your secret?
Cheers,
Tony

The Homunculus is on my short list to shoot and you’ve done well to show it and it’s surrounding material within the entire nebula

In regard to uploads to this forum I usually save it as a large jpeg (with high quality setting) out of “photos” on my Mac. It normally ends up being around 1MB but there must be a good compression algorithm as it accepts the image and turns it into 179kb....
