iPhone battery life??

What should be the "average" time between charging for an iPhone5????
I'm finding it just doesn't last a day!
Maybe 4-5 calls during that time - no fancy stuff/ downloads etc.
Is this right??

I recharge mine each morning before work and the indicator normally reports it is still half charged at least before charging. I don't make a lot of calls - 2 to 3 per day. But I use it daily as a Hifi hotspot for my ipad - for maybe an hour a day.

It takes about 36 hours to go flat.

Hmmmm sounds like yours lasts about twice as long as mine.....

Things like heavy GPS usage will drain the battery quickly - check your apps.

Ken, check what apps you have running in the background which maybe draining your battery.
A simple check is to double click your iPhone home button, it will show up all the apps running, then flick the unwanted ones upward to get rid of them. That should improve your battery life.

There is a known fault with some IPhone batteries, getting only 30% life. My daughter took hers back and they fixed it for free, and were very good about it.

The iphone 5 has 2 replacement programs atm....for on/off button, see here, and for battery, see here.

We just had one replaced due to the on/off button. The replacement phones are "reconditioned" but have new front/rear glass displays and batteries.

Generally Apple have agreed that if your iphone has a major fault in the first 2 years of it's purchase it will be replaced. Forget about the 1 year warranty they mention, it's actually recognised (by apple) as 2 years due to consumer laws.

Yes, follow Brendan's second link and enter your serial number to see whether your phone is affected. If so you'll get a new battery.

Mobiles will use more power the further they are from the towers or if they are in a low signal strength environment. Something to bear in mind.

Apple wants you to buy another phone. The battery gets weaker intentionally. It is also intentional that you can't replace it

Wrong on all accounts. They want you to be happy with your phone, hence the replacement programme. Batteries get weaker over time because of, you know, physics, and they will replace the dodgy ones for free, even after the warranty period.

Not only iphone but Canon cameras had a similar issue. I was a victim. I was told that the battery warranty was only 3 months. Mine went dead after 4 mths. Ted's Cameras exchanged it no charge.

My old iphone 4s is now in my partner's possession as I have the 5s. The 4s battery is still going strong after 2yrs 5 mths. It did get a lot of use average 10 calls per day when I had it.

Thanks for the feedback...our serial number doesn't come up as being in the "bad battery list"
I'll look at some of the options to extend the life beyond 10 hrs.....

Ken you can get your battery checked by Apple at the genius bar. They can tell lots of things like number of charges, capacity in battery (wrt new) etc.

If it is below normal specs for an item of its age then they will/should replace it, regardless of if it's serial number. As long as it's in the 2 year window or there abouts.

Apple can replace the battery for $39 under their express service or $95 for Out Of Warranty service. I recommend this as opposed to replacing the battery from some ebay store. I have found them to be dreadful and like a blindfold candy pick. Some ok most bad.

I use an Xperia S (sorry, not an iPhone), and I have noted:
1. with Wifi/internet off, I get 3 days battery out of it, with normal call useage and texts.
2. With Wifi/internet on, I get a day if I am lucky
3. If I turn the GPS on, halve the above.

Was fully charged this morning, and I have had the internet and WIFI on all day - it's now at 17% charge.
