Making the best of it

NGC 3576 data (2hrs, nothing new) totally done from go to whoa in PixInsight

Yes, it is data-deficient, don't state the bleeding obvious

Good start Lewis! I must try this one again sometime. It's been a few years since I visited it.

I learnt the Golden Stars technique from someone...dunno who...but PixInsight automates that now anyway Maybe could do 1 iteration more...

After seeing how PI really CAN process out LP gradients really well, I am listing all my LP filters for sale, even my STC Multi-Spectra...

Ta. Got the 7nm H-a loaded in the nosepiece for next time (MAYBE tonight, if the smoke from the Brindabella fires dissipates or goes another direction)

Gawd, is it that bad that even the description didn't identify it?

Ta Rick - your fault I got into P.I again (and well worth it too!). My pig headed determination to use Photoshop is overcome now .

I reckon another 4 hours should be good RGB, then maybe the same in H-a (seeing I am using H-a with an OSC, I think 1hr subs x 4 should suffice). I've tested the mount now to 75 minute single subs with zero trailing, so should be good to go.

Merci Marc.

The "red" to the left of the Statue of Liberty is an odd hue - no matter how I process it, it turn an oranger-red than the pinky-red hue of the more M-a parts - it's almost like H-a and O-III combining.

That's how it is. This nebula has one side pink/red and the other side orange. You've got the correct colors. Look at your starfield. It's consistent from left to right. Only the neb changes.

A great overview of the area. You've shown it beautifully in the context of the billions of Milky Way stars and dust lanes.

2 hrs worth of 7nm H-a through the OSC. I think it needs another 4 hrs (the joys of 85mm...)

https://www.astrobin.com/full/336825/H/?nc=user

Didn't add much, but a BIT of definition and structure. I think this target is ticked off in my books...time for something odd...

Pushing it WAY too far given the total data, but pushed the 2hr H-a data to it's max and then blended it...kinda...

It's a touch...errr...flamboyant

(WAY too noisy in H-a to give a big version)

Still no new data, but I reprocessed it just for giggles in DSS and then applied Marco Lorenzi's H-a combine, which seems to be the best solution for H-a with an OSC.

Yes, it is EXTREMELLY data deficient (2 hrs RGB, 2 hrs H-a, all done with the STF-8300C OSC and an 85mm scope), so ignore the noise.
