Rise of the Phoenix - IC 2177, 7 panel Mosaic in NB

Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, for me IC 2177 has a majestic avian presence, with it's ethereal curtains of Ha drifting in Stellar winds.

I was keen to let this big bird fly, so I've given it room to breath, and I've deliberately cropped out Thor's helmet as it was just too distracting from the main image.

When I purchased the SV70T I was very keen to fit the whole of this magnificent neb in the frame, but on close inspection it seemed a two panel mosaic was required.
However once I processed those it became more and more obvious that at least 6-7 panels were required to do it justice!

After 3 months of data collection and a bazillion attempts to register 442 subs, here is my final mosaic for this season!

There's a nice Herbig Haro object in the upper right hand side, and maybe a few more objects of interest for the scientifically minded throughout the field.

Data gathered from suburban Melbourne, Vic.

Ha 5nm 50 x 1800secs
O3 3nm 16 x 900secs Binx2
S2 3nm 16 x 900secs Binx2
RGB 15 x 60sec ea per panel (315 subs!)

An absolute ball tampering nightmare to register, even using registar my laptop feinted several times until I found a method that worked.

However, like the little engine that could I kept at it and eventually got This Image together

C&C welcome

I don't like NB images.

Now, having said that, I LOVE what you've done. REALLY nice, and yes, it is a gorgeous neb.

Congrats.

Great looking painterly result Andy. The sense of majesty and graceful movement is certainly there - very nice. I also like the faint outer wing on the left - cool. While still good as it is, as a stickler for composition that I know you are, I suspect you must be itching to add another two half-panels across the bottom

Nice (big) job

Mike

A very nice image there Andy, well handled
I definitely feel your pain with so many images to deal with with having done 630x120s for a 30 panel mosaic.

Love the colour and the full res is a dream to look over.

nice big effort there Andy. Having just finished my first mosaic of a whole 2, I can imagine how bad that many panels must've been.

Is the yellow a tribute to the Yellow Tapegate crew?

Lol, er no more panels Mike - I’m all done with this one thanks 😊
That being said, if I had your Fov, I could nail it with just two!

Thanks Simmo, be careful- my first mosaic was just two panels- it’s a slippery slope from there on... lol

As an aside, I was up late processing this image & watching much of the cricket from SA, can’t believe what’s happened there!

Thanks M&T

It's fun to shine the spotlight on these creations and greatly satisfying when once can occasionally do them justice with a nice image.
